I had been in desperate need of some good, natural products that actually work. As an an active outdoors person, I am exposed to the elements with horses and dogs 24/7.
Despite using numerous products over the years, I could never seem to find something to suit me that worked and more often than not - the product didn't do 'what it said on the tin'. I've always had an interest in natural products, essential oils, working with nature and never been a fan of synthetic .. anything. During this dreadful pandemic, I decided I would channel my lockdown energy into making my own balms and wax melts. After sending out some samples to friends, the response was so overwhelming and nearly everyone asked me to make more! So, with a huge learning curve for the legalities, working with laboratories, sourcing of quality ingredients/packaging, hundreds of test trials later, having a go at making this website, trying to understand how something so simple as wax can react so differently to other ingredients and ruin my formations totally ...... (aghrrrrr) BUT .... who would have thought with the patient and honest trialing of everything by family and friends (farmers, farriers, NHS nurses, office workers, dog walkers, builders, gardeners, horsey friends and even my ever cheerful postman Ian ) - to name but a few, this is where I am. All of my balms are hand made from start to finish. They contain carefully chosen 100% Natural ingredients (most being certified organic) to really work and provide healthy nourishment to your skin and hopefully...make a difference!
Alongside my balms, I have always loved a good scent in the house - so I have also created THE RED HOT FOX Scented Wax Melts. Again, I only have used natural sustainable plant based wax. No palm oil, no paraffin oil, no 'mineral wax' (generally paraffin oil dressed up) - all totally sustainable and natural. I wanted very strong scents from my melts which make a statement and impact. My melts are not for the faint hearted and are total mood boosters!
Every melt pod is handcrafted and embossed with my bespoke signature THE RED HOT FOX logo, and come in their very own THE RED HOT FOX recyclable tin. My packaging for all THE RED HOT FOX is minimal and nearly totally plastic free - the only thing I couldn't find a way around was the waterproof labelling and a waterproof bag for the melt refills ... all are recyclable, but I shall keep my mission to have everything plastic free as soon as I can. Trying to reduce waste to the bare minimum is a real priority for me. All the aluminium tins and paper including the packaging envelopes are all recyclable and compostable ensuring they won't affect our precious planet. I hope you enjoy them all and I'm so very proud of all my reviews being 5 stars!
I took The Red Hot Fox to Le Marche French market in Heathfield, East Sussex - what a day! With my 'up cycled' furniture, we had a fabulous day and met many fabulous people. I don't plan on doing many fairs, purely due to time, but a few here and there are a lovely way for people to try my products and for me to meet people too!
I love a good scent in the house. A good fragrance for me is something strong, has an impact and isn't sickly but dramatic, aromatic and a total mood booster. Each lovingly handmade melt pod has the unique bespoke signature THE RED HOT FOX embossed logo and comes in a set of 15 melt pods in their very own tin, which I hope you will use for refills. These melts are extremely powerful with an incredible scent throw. Using the best ingredients and only natural plant based wax - coconut and rapeseed. My melt pods are free of palm oil, paraffin wax, mineral wax or synthetic waxes - commonly used in big name products (but dressed up as mineral waxes!). My wonderful Mum was famed for her beautiful garden and in particular her beloved roses. I spent hours with Mum in her garden, learning the names of the gazillions of roses and plants she carefully tended. It was an open opportunity to pick my Mum's roses and lavender, dry them along with grapefruit, tangelo, mandarins, orange peel & any array of good smelling leaves /petals I could find. I would delight in watching the changes in colour of the beautiful dried coloured petals and home made natural scented pot pouri. I loved making it, enjoyed the scent in the house wafting in and out of rooms - I have great memories of those days. My signature bespoke wax melt pod's are a minimum of 6 grams each and packed full of scent giving hours and hours (minimum of 8 hours per pod) for a total aromatic experience. Easy to use - just pop a melt pod into a wax melt burner and feel the air fill with an overwhelming unrivalled experience of well being.

The strength of its antimicrobial effect is what makes this oil so special. Sustainably sourced from the leaves, branches, and flowers of the New Zealand native Manuka tree, Manuka Oil has long been recognised for its powerful antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. For centuries, New Zealand Maoris have used Manuka Oil to treat everything from rheumatism and fevers to burns and skin disorders. Growing up In New Zealand, it was definitely going to be an essential ingredient in many of my balms with its unique healing properties. I even remember making 'Billy Tea' with my Dad when going walking in the bush in NZ - he taught me to take the leaves off the Manuka tree, boil them with fresh stream water over the campfire, and that was that - Manuka 'Billy Tea'.
Coconut oil is a great emollient if the barrier function of your skin is disturbed. It's great at repairing and restoring this quickly as it is rapidly absorbed into the epidermis. Coconut oil is mainly composed of saturated fats, which are amazing at repairing your skins natural barrier function and can also keep moisture in the skin by slowing down the evaporation. It's quite light as an oil so soaks in well without feeling greasy.
Super-seeds from the humble kiwi fruit come up trumps when it comes to anti-ageing goodness. A rich source of vitamins C and E, which means it holds in moisture and is incredibly nourishing. Kiwi Seed Oil keeps skin healthy and helps to boost collagen production. Being packed with antioxidants, Kiwi Seed Oil is also able to fight free radicals that lead to premature ageing - pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.
Pomegranate trees have been growing on earth since as early as 4000, B.C.E. Originating from the Mediterranean, they were cultivated further east throughout Iran and India, and later across Southern Europe. Pomegranate seed oil nourishes our skin with its massive store of vitamin c, one of the biggest vitamins in skin care. Pomegranate offers regenerative, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties that promote bouncy, glowing skin.
Strong Antioxidant , Significantly High in Vitamin E, Rich in Vitamin A. A unique balance of Omega 3, 6 and 9 Essential Fatty Acids. Red Raspberry Seed Oil effectively moisturises and improves skins elasticity. It also contains one of the highest anti-oxidant of any of the vegetable/fruit oils, making it an excellent addition to my balms to assist with natural sun protection where it will help to prevent photo damage.
Jojoba oil helps promote healing of the skin in many ways. It has antimicrobial properties, which means it actually discourages the growth of some bacterial and fungal microbes that attack the skin. In addition, the chemical composition of Jojoba closely resembles that of the skin’s natural sebum, so it is easily absorbed and rarely causes allergic reactions, even in the most sensitive individuals.
Beeswax has been used for thousands of years and is extremely versatile host of benefits in skin care. It provides antioxidants, moisturises, nourishes, and is great for sensitive skin. Beeswax also contains vitamin A, which may be beneficial in softening and rehydrating dry skin and in cell reconstruction. I only use organic pure unrefined beeswax. After the Honey has been separated, the remaining Beeswax is boiled and filtered to remove the debris and crud, leaving a solid Golden Yellow block - this is what I use.
My organic Shea Butter is unrefined and comes ethically and sustainably sourced. Shea Butter is considered a superfood for skin. It has exceptional healing properties that can really help with eczema and psoriasis due to the fact it is rich in Vitamin A & E, it puts moisture back into skin and locks it in. Did you know that the Shea Tree will be 20 years old before it starts producing an annual crop of Fruit?

Charity:water is my chosen charity.
Some people dream of finding water on Mars. Others dream of finding it here on Earth.
Right now, some of the world’s poorest and most marginalised people don’t have clean water to drink, decent toilets to use or good hygiene to protect themselves. Without these basics, overcoming poverty is just a dream. How can we all go forward if we don't have such a simple thing as clean water? This should NOT be a luxury or dream. Every little bit helps make it a reality.
Every ingredient in my 100% natural balms use the finest natural and sustainably sourced ingredients nature has to offer.
Including superstar ingredients like Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, Organic Pomegranate Seed Oil, Organic Kiwi Seed Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Wild Manuka Oil, Organic Unrefined Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Pure Beeswax which work in conjunction with specially chosen organic essentials to inject and lock in moisture, soothe, hydrate, protect and rejuvenate.
